Pawnee CASA What is CASA? CASA means COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES- trained community volunteers appointed by a judge to speak up for abused and neglected children in court. A CASA "works" for a judge, alongside attorneys and child welfare workers, as an appointed "officer of the court". NO LEGAL EXPERTISE IS REQUIRED! Who are CASA Volunteers? CASA Volunteers are EVERYDAY people who care about children! A person must be at least 21 years of age and pass a criminal background check to become a CASA volunteer. Volunteers for Pawnee CASA come from all walks of life and backgrounds: most work full-time; some are college students and/or work part-time; some are stay-at-home moms and wives; and some are retired.
